Individuals with communication disorders or limited proficiency in English often have difficulty understanding common idiomatic expressions. Expressions such as "He put his foot in his mouth" are often confusing because the meaning of the expression cannot be determined based on its literal meaning. Common Expressions Software, developed by Larry Pickett, is a high-interest program that can be used to facilitate the learning of common idioms such as "'It's raining cats and dogs" Colorful pictures show the literal meaning of the expressions. Students then match the pictures with statements containing their meanings. Students can be provided with three, four, or five answers to choose from. The author, Larry Pickett, is a speech-language pathologist and a computer programmer who has authored a number of computer programs published by Academic Communication Aasociates. This program is designed for IBM-compatible computers and can be used with students as young as 6 years of age. Each CD targets 100 common expressions
